Notes: Chloe’s first real love is coming to sweep her off her feet… be prepared for the next few chapters to get exciting! WOOH! But what is up with her new friend, Korbynne? She should be supportive, right?

He walked in. That was all he had to do to Chloe, and she was swept off of her feet.

It almost looked like he was with the cute brunette with the coffee-colored skin and the curly pigtails- but he didn’t cast a second glance at her when Chloe Delano began to wave to him.

She was captivatingly pretty. Her features are perfect in such dim candlelight, he thought. In any light, really.

“So… Nathan, right?” Chloe bit her lip, nervous. She had been hanging around at the foosball table for a while, waiting for Korbynne to start the drinks over behind the wet bar.

“Naturally,” Nathan breathed. He was wearing his favorite plaid-on-plaid outfit. It was Ralph Lauren, and on anyone else it would have looked ridiculous… but on him it looked cool. It gave him the “skater-boy” air he longed for.

As their conversation heated up-Nathan got Chloe laughing and dancing lightly to the music blaring from the stereo- the pretty brunette seemed to find what she was looking for.

“Korbynne? Korbynne Reese Palmento? Is that really you?”

Korbynne turned away from the bar to face the girl dressed in a miniskirt and a red button-up top. Her pigtails were curly and tied with blue ribbon- as always.

“Gloria Parker! You’re back?” She smiled at her friend, behind tight lips, her teeth gnashed. Through her peripheral sight she could spy Chloe having a time of it with her handsome new friend.

Sometimes the kids from the ARC were transported off on trips to other cities, or sometimes even countries. Right now, the only four at the ARC were Korbynne who was considered “unstable” and Chloe who was a “newbie” along with Zane and Nathan, who had recently been allowed to visit the pretty little town of Prudence.

“We’ve missed you around the ARC! We’ve even got a new girl! Her name is Chloe and she is wonderful! The only way I would have survived without you and everyone else…” Korbynne babbled off, still keeping an eye on the pair in the corner. She prayed that it was only harmless chit chat.

His baby blues were tempting her. Chloe was seriously beginning to want to take him into her arms and kiss him. Right there.

“Chloe? I know we’re kind of… ummm,” Chloe smiled at Nathan and batted her lashes.

“Yes, Nathaniel?”

“Please,” he laughed, “Call me Nathan. I was wondering though… if maybe you wanted to go out… tonight?” Chloe looked at him for just a moment and then suddenly smiled her hundred-watt smile. Nathan almost melted.

“Of course I will! But where will we go?” Chloe’s high voice could be heard to Korbynne’s severely attuned ears. She shifted her glance towards the pair in a second. She knew she shouldn’t-no; she couldn’t stand here and watch him take hold of her, too.

Gloria glanced towards them, assuming the passion that seemed to roll off Korbynne in waves was jealously. She had assumed wrong. “Are you there, Kori?”

Korbynne just shook her head, “Naturally, darling.”

She must really be jealous, thought Gloria, wishing her old friend wouldn’t obsess over Nathan so. But, Gloria realized, she was just glad to be home, and with Korbynne.
